Prizes and Grants
2015

SP-Arte continuously seeks to create and reinforce bonds that unite different players from the arts circuit. As such, it fosters actions earmarked for artists, curators, institutions and galleries. They are initiatives that leverage continued education opportunities through residency grants abroad, offered to Brazilian creators, and financial support for the development of creative projects.

In 2015, the jury selected 3 artists for the artist residency grant: Beto Shwafaty (Galeria Luisa Strina), Mayan Redin (Silvia Cintra + Box4) and Pedro Motta (Celma Albuquerque).

In the second semester of 2015, Beto Schwafaty traveled to New York for his residency program at Residency Unlimited (RU), coordinated by the directors Nathalie Anglès and Boshko Boskovic, while Mayana Redin and Pedro Motta went to FLORA ars+natura in Hondo, Colombia, supervised by the curators José Roca and Adriana Hurtado. The artists spent two to three months immersed in research, producing and networking, and receiving a support system to help in the development of their work.

Since 2013, SP-Arte and ICCo – Instituto de Cultura Contemporânea offer an artist residency grant to emerging artists, represented by galleries participating in SP-Arte. This initiative promoted by the Fair, increases the dissemination of local artists internationally.
