Prizes and Grants
2014

SP-Arte continuously seeks to create and reinforce bonds that unite different players from the arts circuit. As such, it fosters actions earmarked for artists, curators, institutions and galleries. They are initiatives that leverage continued education opportunities through residency grants abroad, offered to Brazilian creators, and financial support for the development of creative projects.

In its second edition, the residency program ICCo/SP-Arte Award was granted to the artists Alexandre Brandão (Galeria Leme) and Bruno Cançado (AM Galeria de Arte). Alexandre Brandão spent two months at Residency Unlimited (RU), New York, and Bruno Cançado spent his immersion trip in the workshops at the Fundação Bienal de Cerveira in Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal.

At SP-Arte/2015, ICCo exhibited images from the residency and artworks by the recipients of the 2014 grants. The institute produced and curated the exhibition at the Fair, while also documenting the progress of the project and accompanying the residency programs.

Since 2013, SP-Arte and ICCo – Instituto de Cultura Contemporânea offer an artist residency grant to emerging artists, represented by galleries participating in SP-Arte. This initiative promoted by the Fair, increases the dissemination of local artists internationally.
