Fui a buscar la lluvia
What follows is a new series of paintings by Fernando Nureña, titled I Went Looking for the Rain. Continuing his artistic practice grounded in personal and found photographic archives, Fernando intertwines rain with the visual everyday life of the working class, focusing on moments of rest and leisure. Rain unfolds as a metaphor for migration and lineage, rooted in his family history and his journeys between Lima and the Andes. Through experimentation with the effects of rain—between brightness and opacity—Fernando constructs an associative visuality in which rain manifests as both phenomenon and sentiment, a bearer of revitalizing power for the land, the body, and memory alike.
