About

Maarten Baas was born in 1978 and is a Dutch designer, graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2002. His studio is based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. His works straddle boundaries between art and design. He occupies a unique position in the field, embodying conceptual art, craftsmanship, installation, public space and performance into his oeuvre.

Among the national and international exhibitions in which he participated are “Brilliant” (2003), at Victoria & Albert Museum, London; “Smart Deco” (2006), at Droog Design, Miami, Art Basel Fair; “Design Miami/ Basel” (2018), at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Switzerland; and “Nouveau Brutalisme” (2019), at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Paris.

His works are part of important collections such as Collection Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Mudam Luxembourg; Vitra Design Museum , Weil am Rhein, German; and Graphic Design Museum, Breda, The Netherlands.
