About

Bruno Novaes was born in São Bernardo do Campo, in 1985, and lives and works in São Caetano do Sul. His production takes on issues such as identity, memory and affection. Through drawing, writing and watercolour, he predominantly perceives himself in the exercise of mapping, cataloging or classifying the subjects he observes.

Among the national and international exhibitions in which he participated are the individuals “Capítulo 1: O corpo mente menos que as palavras”, at OMA Galeria (São Bernardo do Campo, 2018), and “O professor deverá ser o último a se retirar, mesmo nos dias de chuva”, at Paço das Artes (São Paulo, 2019); and the group shows “72º Salão de Arte Contemporânea de Araras” (Araras, São Paulo, 2013) and “Programa de exposições”, at Museu de Arte de Ribeirão Preto (Marp) (Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, 2019).

In 2013, he was a resident at Casa líquida, in São Paulo. Bruno Novaes was recognized with the award “Prêmio aquisição” at 44º Salão de Arte Contemporânea Luiz Sacilotto (Santo André, 2016) and also at 12º Salão de Arte Contemporânea de São Bernardo (São Bernardo, 2019).

His work integrates important institutional collections such as Museu da Diversidade Sexual do Estado de São Paulo, Fundação das Artes de São Caetano do Sul, Prefeitura Municipal de Santo André e Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR).
