José Leonilson

Brazil, 1957

About

Leonilson's work is predominantly autobiographical and is focused on the last ten years of his life. According to the critic Lisette Lagnado, each piece created by the artist is constructed as a letter to a personal diary. In 1989, he began to incorporate sewing and embroidery, which became recurring elements in his production.
