Adriana Varejão

Brazil, 1964

About

Painting constitutes the primary field of her production, incorporating elements from other mediums, such as sculpture. Blending Baroque elements in dialogue with contemporary art, Adriana Varejão creates paintings and installations that question social relationships constructed in a colonial past. In her works, materials are symbolically linked to Brazilian cultural history.
