Marli Matsumoto Arte Contemporânea
São Paulo, Brazil
Founded in August 2021, Marli Matsumoto Arte Contemporânea is installed in Vila Madalena, in a modernist house from the 70’s.
Generated during the pandemic, the art gallery institutionally deals with the domestic space for the presentation of artworks and it is intended to be a place of dialogue between national and international productions.
The exhibitions already held were organized in rooms that keep in evidence the original characteristics of the house and the occupation of the garden that surrounds it, making possible the interaction between the inside and the outside.
The gallery works mainly with young Brazilian artists: Élle de Bernardini, Elvis Almeida, Gaya Rachel, Juan Casemiro, Leka Mendes, Raphaela Melsohn and Thaís Zakí. It also acts on the secondary market with important artworks from the 60’s onward, by renowned artists, that the director has worked with throughout her trajectory.
A differential is in the intention of maintaining collaborative work, such as the ones that were done with Desapê and currently with Projeto Vênus.
