INDEX GALLERY, an ambitious project by Marcos Mendes Manente and Mônica Tachotte, which combines work with the primary and secondary arts markets in Brazil. In other words, in addition to working on the most recent artistic productions, GALERIA INDEX also intends to move the productions that are already in the hands of collectors, such as historical works by renowned artists. At the beginning, the gallery has the representation of nine artists, all from the city of Brasília.
Initially, the gallery intends to concentrate its operations through digital channels, in addition to exhibition productions in itinerant spaces, exploring the geographic potentials of the city of Brasilia through a series of projects in vacant buildings and public spaces, as well as sales of works by artists. In addition to working with the particularities of the spaces in the city of Brasília, the INDEX GALLERY aims to document, promote and disseminate local production, proposing curatorial strategies that establish a dialogue between different generations, through cultural perspectives to encourage the practice of visual arts and their artistic processes. The idea is to revitalize and promote the debate between artistic actions and contact areas in order to guide aesthetic, social and political issues.
