Communal nests are built to provide habitats to a variety of bird species. By deconstructing straw hats and weaving them again, the artist creates a community for imagined birds, adorned with perches and ornamental architecture. While waiting for their inhabitants, these objects remain in a moment of transition before nature takes over. The nests offer a subtle critique of the ideal nuclear family, encouraging utopian communities of birds that can take part in multiple family structures.
