About

Rick Rodrigues was born in João Neiva, Espírito Santo, in 1988, where he lives and works. He is part of the group Almofadinhas, also formed by Fábio Carvalho and Rodrigo Mogiz, who dedicate themselves to activities in the territory of the sensitive and delicate, having embroidery as one of the means of production of their works. In this context, the artists' work emphasizes the embroidery technique in the discussion of contemporaneity and tradition together with approaches on gender, affectivity and sexuality.

Among the national and international exhibitions in which he participated are the individuals “O que dizer sobre o nada sei”, at Galeria Georges Vincent (Belo Horizonte, 2015), and “Tratado geral das grandezas do ínfimo”, at Galeria de Arte Ibeu (Rio de Janeiro, 2019); and the group shows “XIII Salão Latino Americano de Artes Plásticas de Santa Maria”, at Museu de Arte de Santa Maria (Masm) (Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, 2014), and “Minha primeira obra”, at OÁ Galeria (Vitória, Espírito Santo, 2019).

The artist was recognized with awards “Bolsa Cultura Jovem” by SECULT — Funcultura (2013), “Prêmio Aquisição” at 44º Salão de Arte Contemporânea Luiz Sacilotto (Santo André, São Paulo, 2016) and the contest Garimpo by DASartes Magazine (2017).
