About

Alan Fontes was born in Ponte Nova, Minas Gerais, in 1980 and lives and works in Belo Horizonte. He holds a Master's degree in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. In his paintings, the artist represents the three-dimensional space and, in some cases, exceeds the limits of the canvas and finalizes the works in scenographies.

Among the national and international exhibitions in which he participated are the solo exhibitions “A casa”, at Paço das Artes (São Paulo, 2007) and “Black House”, at VoltaNY (New York, 2018); and the group shows “Mostra Bolsa Pampulha”, at Museu de Arte da Pampulha (Belo Horizonte, 2014) and "O que emana da água", at Galeria Carbono (São Paulo, 2019).

In 2013, he was a resident of the Programa Bolsa Pampulha 5th Edition, in Belo Horizonte, and in 2014 he took part in the Baró Residence, in São Paulo. Alan Fontes was recognized with the awards 1º Prêmio Foco Bradesco/ArtRio (2013) and I Prêmio CCBB Contemporâneo (2013).
