MODERN LOVE

This column on The New York Times is one of my favorites and I’m always following it. The articles are great and the illustrations by the amazing Brian Rea are made with a lot of subtlety.

LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL

With hundreds of events, exhibitions and installations spread all over the English capital, the London Design Festival, from September 17-25, has definitely put the city inside the worldwide design scene. One of the highlights is the piece presented by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, that can be seen at Victoria & Albert Museum, a huge reference in England. Part of the series Liquid Marble, which had its first work shown at Milan Week Design in 2013, the table created for the English festival was carved and polished in one marble piece, in order to give the impression of liquid water. During London Design Festival, some more utilitarian pieces of the series will be presented at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery.

LEONARD COHEN

“A million candles burning
For the love that never came
You want it darker
We kill the flame”

Last Wednesday (21) the Canadian singer and poet Leonard Cohen has reached his 82 years old presenting the title track of his 14th album, You want it darker, to be launched at October 21. Cohen recites more than sings. His voice, profoundly deep, goes through the pitch created by the bass line and the discreet beat, in companion to the choir from a synagogue.
