About

Mauricio Parra was born in São Paulo, in 1976, where he lives and works. He uses the techniques of oil painting and metal engraving to represent his universe of interests. He attended the workshops of artists such as Rubens Matuck, with whom he learned about supports, oil painting and watercolor; the engraving workshop of the Lasar Segall museum, where he deepened his knowledge of metal engraving techniques; and the workshop of the master printer Roberto Grassmann.

Among the national and international exhibitions in which he participated are "Memórias do sol às 21h30" (2014), "Um verão em Marianowo" (2015) and "A ausência é um estar em mim" (2016), all at Galeria Mezanino, in São Paulo, and the group show "Scapeland", at Galeria Marta Traba (São Paulo, 2018).

The artist was recognized with awards "Prêmio especial", at 3ª Bienal Nacional de Gravura de Atibaia (Atibaia, São Paulo, 2007), of the honorable mention at Internacional Small Engraving Salon (Romênia, 2009), and “Prêmio de Jovens Artistas” at Espaço Cultural Citibank (São Paulo, 2009). In 2013 he participated in an artist residency in Gludsted, Denmark, and in 2015 in Marianowo, Poland.
